Set Up Your Development Environment

Before you can integrate Invoicing, you must set up your development environment. After you get a token that lets you access protected REST API resources, you create sandbox accounts to test your web and mobile apps. For details, see Get Started.

Third-party permissions:

To build an app that creates, sends, and manages invoices on the merchant's behalf:

  1. Set the access privileges of the access token in the scope field to the invoicing scope:

    scope="openid https://uri.paypal.com/services/invoicing/invoices/readwrite"

  2. When you integrate Connect with PayPal, pass the scope values in a URL-encoded, space-separated, and case-sensitive list.
  3. The merchant uses your app to connect with PayPal, log in to their software, and grant you third-party permissions.

Your app can now call the Invoicing API on behalf of the merchant.
