Important: PayPal for Marketplaces is a limited-release solution at this time. It is available to select partners for approved use cases. For more information, reach out to your PayPal account manager.

Tip: When you integrate with Marketplaces, you can use the PayPal API Explorer to make test calls to the Onboarding API.

Overview

Marketplaces Connected Path enables you to partner with PayPal. Partnership provides protection and management of risks and losses.

With the Connected Path, responsibilities are distributed among partners and sellers:

  • Partners control the disbursement of funds.

  • Sellers are liable for risk loss associated with chargebacks and reversals, handle disputes, and collect funds from responsible parties. Sellers must have a PayPal account.

Onboard your sellers

  • Upfront Onboarding
    • You ask your sellers to connect with PayPal before buyers make PayPal payments through your marketplace. This method uses the PayPal API.
    • URL Onboarding is a variation of Upfront onboarding that streamlines the onboarding process and does not use the PayPal API.
  • Progressive Onboarding
    • You ask your sellers to connect with PayPal after buyers make PayPal payments through your marketplace.
