# PayPal-supported cryptocurrencies (/reports/reference/cryptocurrencies)

PayPal reports use cryptocurrency codes to represent digital asset transactions. A cryptocurrency code is a short identifier, similar to an [ISO 4217 fiat currency code](/reports/reference/supported-currencies/), that uniquely identifies a specific digital asset.

Cryptocurrency codes appear for transaction amounts in reports that include digital asset activity. Each transaction row that involves a cryptocurrency includes both the code and the corresponding amount, letting you identify the asset type and quantity in a single record. Using an unrecognized code in a cryptocurrency field returns no results.

This page lists every cryptocurrency code that PayPal supports, so you can accurately interpret and validate cryptocurrency fields in your reports. It applies to developers and analysts who work with PayPal report data that includes cryptocurrency transactions.

Cryptocurrency codes appear in the `Crypto Currency` field of the [Balance report](/reports/balance/). They also may appear in other fields and reports that include cryptocurrency transactions.

If a transaction does not involve a supported cryptocurrency, these fields are blank.
