How The Solution Works

This section is intended for solution architects and senior developers designing how your POS, Verifone estate, and Braintree gateway fit together. It explains how the Verifone-Braintree integration unifies online and in-store card processing behind a single Braintree gateway, so you can simplify your payment architecture, reporting, and operational workflows.

This section does not cover step-by-step POS integration, individual Verifone API/SDK operations, or specific Braintree API calls; those details are provided in the Technical Integration and use-case pages.

The solution extends Braintree's processing platform to support in-store transactions through Verifone's payment infrastructure:

  1. In-store integration: Your Point of Sale (POS) system connects to Verifone's cloud API or SDK and terminal ecosystem.
  2. Automatic processing: Verifone automatically routes all in-store card transactions to your Braintree gateway. Gift cards, private label credit cards, and other payment methods are processed through Verifone.
  3. Unified backend: Braintree handles authorization, settlement, disputes, and risk management for omnichannel card payments.
  4. Centralized management: Access reporting for all payment methods, including those processed by Verifone, through Braintree.
