PayPal Insights SDK - Overview
Last updated: Aug 15th, 7:47am
How it works
The PayPal Insights SDK is a snippet of JavaScript code that loads a small library of functions you can use to share visitor activity on your website.
The Insights SDK will track the URLs and device information the visitor uses. In addition, you can use the Insights SDK paypalInsight() function to track visitor actions that PayPal has defined to measure the effectiveness of the checkout flow.
Requirements
In order to implement the Insights SDK, you will need:
- Access to your website’s codebase.
- Your PayPal
CLIENT_ID- this will be used as the analytics tag ID. - For Partners, you also need to provide the PayPal
MERCHANT_IDto identify the merchant on your platform.
Disclosures and Terms of Use
Important: By implementing the Insights SDK, the merchant acknowledges and agrees to the following:
IP Addresses
PayPal receives IP addresses in connection with the Insights SDK incidental to the delivery of internet traffic. IP addresses associated with SDK traffic are not associated with or linked to any user or device information by PayPal for purposes of the Insights SDK, nor used by PayPal to power Insights recommendations. PayPal uses technical and operational controls to prevent IP addresses from being associated or linked with merchant generated Insights user IDs.
Merchant Restrictions on Use of SDK
The Insights SDK is designed to limit the collection and transmission of data to PayPal to a defined and limited set of data fields. Merchant represents and warrants that it will not configure the Insights SDK to transmit to PayPal or grant PayPal access to any additional information relating to transaction events.
Sensitive Data Transmission
Merchant represents and warrants that it will not transmit or configure any integration with PayPal or PayPal application, including the Insights SDK, to transmit to PayPal or grant PayPal access to any personal data that is, or that Merchant reasonably should know is, from or about children under the age of 13, or that includes or constitutes financial information, biometric information, health information, sensitive personal data or any other similar term as defined under applicable laws, regulations and industry guidelines.
Consent
Merchant represents and warrants that it has obtained user consent to collect and share with PayPal information through the Insights SDK when applicable laws require Merchant to obtain such consent.
