We're introducing AI-powered search on the developer portal. This is a brand-new search experience crafted by developers for developers — where your queries are no longer met with cookie-cutter responses but are specifically addressed to get you the answers you need.

This post is a sneak peek at our latest tool in the quest for a new developer experience that enables a smoother and more intuitive discovery of PayPal integrations, specific to your project needs. You also have the opportunity to take part in our beta testing phase, where your input will help shape the future of our developer journey experience.

Improved Search Accuracy and Relevancy

One of the most significant enhancements we’ve introduced, thanks to new developments in AI, is our ability to provide hyper-targeted responses. Unlike traditional website search tools, our new AI search understands everything from keyword queries to long-form questions. Previous searches on the developer portal only performed well when searched via ‘terms’ such as ‘Venmo’ or ‘Apple Pay’. By incorporating Natural Language Processing capabilities in the portal search engine, we can understand queries such as “How to integrate Venmo and Apple Pay onto my website” and provide a response that answers the query fully, instead of in parts.

Our Search AI is specifically trained on PayPal’s documentation and codebases. Its purpose is to provide a succinct and accurate answers to queries. This allows you to quickly understand and find answers to your questions.
