Yesterday, we announced PayPal’s remote Model Context Protocol (MCP)* server supports OpenAI models. Today, PayPal's MCP server also supports Anthropic's API, enabling developers to accelerate agentic commerce through intuitive, multi-model AI integrations.

The addition of Anthropic’s API, developers now have greater choice when creating powerful, natural language-enabled agentic workflows, tailored to their needs.

PayPal Remote MCP Server Tools Available with Anthropic

Developers leveraging PayPal's MCP server can now access advanced tools to empower merchants via their preferred AI providers, OpenAI and now Anthropic’s LLMs. Here are the two key capabilities that are available, with more on the way:

  • Creating Invoices: Revolutionize invoice generation with natural language inputs. Instead of manually entering each detail, developers can connect merchants to an MCP client that pulls relevant data and generates invoices automatically. By implementing file-system or drive-system connectors, merchants save time and effort, making this particularly useful for businesses focused on scalability and automation.
  • Reporting and Insights: Gain detailed transaction insights within a specified timeframe. This tool provides merchants and service providers with a comprehensive breakdown of sales activity, enabling them to analyze customer patterns, monitor payment statuses, and identify revenue trends with ease.
