The 2025 PayPal x Google Cloud bounty challenge brought together teams from around the world all working toward the same goal: building the next generation of innovative Web3 solutions using stablecoins.

Powered by StackUp, the competition challenged teams to build apps that showcased both the versatility of the multi-chain stablecoin PayPal USD (PYUSD) and the free access to computationally expensive blockchain methods offered by Google Cloud’s Blockchain RPC.

Teams competed for an overall prize pool of $15,000 and were judged based on five criteria:

  • Innovation and creativity (40%)
  • Pushing the limits of what’s possible (25%)
  • Functionality and relevance (20%)
  • Accessibility (10%)
  • Quality of documentation (5%)

The winning projects represent a wide range of solutions, including seamless payments, social trading, fiat-to-crypto integrations, and even advanced wallets.

We’re excited to introduce the four winners of the bounty challenge—Phaigo, Rosen, Normie Tech, and 4m.4n—and showcase how each used PYUSD and Google Cloud’s Blockchain RPC to power their next-generation Web3 app.

Meet the PayPal x Google Cloud Bounty Challenge Winners

First Place: Phaigo

Phaigo makes sending PYUSD as easy as typing a username.

Nearly $1b worth of Ether has been lost due to address errors. Phaigo aims to fix this problem by replacing complicated wallet addresses (like 0xf4E11b89519EcCd988A56749f1C64aD9bFe0298f) with simple, human-readable usernames, reducing the complexity and confusion native to blockchain.

With its intuitive interface, Phaigo allows users to send and request payments simply and seamlessly.

Using the built-in AI assistant, users can even ask to send and request payments—all with natural language.

At its core, Phaigo takes advantage of the wide reach and near-instant speed of PYUSD to send and receive payments between users. It uses Google Cloud's Blockchain RPC service for all on-chain interactions, including taking advantage of free, computationally advanced methods for analytics such as debug_traceTransaction and trace_block.

Second Place: Rosen

Rosen is a social trading app that connects its users to a global economy.

With Rosen, users can not only make friends and build connections, but they can also tip, reward, and pay those friends directly inside the app.

image

Rosen uses AI-powered real-time multilingual translation for global communication. With Rosen, users can communicate with anyone, anywhere, at any time.

image

And while they interact with their friends, users can also tip, reward, and pay many of those users without leaving the app. See a video you absolutely love? Tip the creator to show your appreciation.

For its payments solution, Rosen relies on PYUSD to enable near-instant micropayments. Google Cloud’s Blockchain RPC sits behind the scenes of the app, ensuring blockchain transactions are completed quickly and smoothly.

Third Place: Normie Tech

Normie Tech enables seamless card-to-stablecoin payments. Customers can pay in fiat while merchants receive payments in PYUSD. Normie Tech lets merchants say "yes" to more customers, nearly anywhere in the world.

image

Merchants start by creating an account and connecting their payout address and preferred payout method.

Once set up, merchants can use the dashboard to easily create recurring or one-time payment links to share with customers.

image

Customers can then use the payment link to pay with a credit card or PayPal—no onboarding or crypto wallet needed. Payments are converted to PYUSD and deposited straight into the merchant account.

Normie Tech uses PYUSD as the payment method behind the scenes, allowing merchants to manage their accounts on-chain, with a programmable stablecoin. Google Cloud’s Blockchain RPC manages on-chain activity, ensuring all blockchain transactions complete quickly and smoothly.

Special Merit Award: 4m.4n

4m.4n’s PYUSD Hub is an advanced crypto wallet for PYUSD and other digital assets.

image

As with most crypto wallets, PYUSD Hub allows users to send and receive digital assets, including PYUSD.

  image

But PYUSD Hub also provides advanced functionality not normally found inside a wallet, including:

  • Monitoring and assessing MEV risks in real time
  • Analyzing transactions and network status with AI
  • Monitoring network activity and gas costs

image

Built with Flutter, PYUSD Hub makes it simple to create a wallet, send and receive funds, and track both transactions and network status. It uses PYUSD as a payment method and Google Cloud’s Blockchain RPC to manage the blockchain interactions and provide the MEV and network analysis and functionality—tasks that would be cost-prohibitive with other providers.

Building the Future with PYUSD

These winning projects have shown just a few ways that combining Google Cloud’s Blockchain RPC and PYUSD can drive innovation in real-world applications. We hope they’ve inspired you to explore how you might innovate as well.
