Override default shipping rates

(Optional) Shipping rates are automatically calculated using the shipping methods you set in your PayPal account profile. U.S. merchants can override the shipping methods and set shipping rates on a per transaction basis. Non-U.S. merchants must first enable shipping method overrides in their account profile.

U.S. merchants:

  1. To review the shipping methods set in your account profile, click View.

  2. To use your default shipping methods, leave Use settings saved in your PayPal profile checked.

  3. Enter the product's Weight and select Lb(s) or kgs.

  4. To override your default shipping methods, click Use specific amount and then enter the amount to charge for shipping.

  5. For items that do not incur shipping charges, such as digital goods, enter zero (0.00).

For non-U.S. merchants, first enable overrides:

  1. Log in to your PayPal account.

  2. Select Profile, and then Profile and Settings.

  3. Click My selling tools.

  4. From the Shipping my items section, locate Shipping Calculations and click Update.

  5. On the Shipping calculation page, click Yes for the Override shipping methods per transaction option.

  6. On Create a PayPal payment button page, click Use specific amount and enter an amount to charge for shipping.

For more information, see Override shipping calculations on individual transactions.

Override default tax information

(Optional) Tax is automatically calculated on a per transaction basis using the tax rates you set in your PayPal account profile.

  • To use your default tax rates, leave Use saved values in PayPal profile checked.

  • To override the default tax rates, select Use tax rate and enter a percentage to calculate the tax on this item, regardless of quantity.

  • For non-taxable items, enter zero (0.000) to override automatic sales tax calculation.

Associate transactions with your PayPal account

By default, transactions from your payment button are associated with your PayPal merchant ID. To associate transactions to an email address instead, click Use my primary email address. If your Profile contains multiple email addresses, click the address to use as the primary email address for this button.

For example, you might select the email address of the person in your organization who handles order fulfillment or accounting. All payments are deposited to your PayPal account balance, regardless of which email address is selected. However, only the selected email address will receive the email payment notifications.

Tip: PayPal recommends using the default option so that your email address will not be exposed within the button code.
