Configure your partner account to deliver embedded merchant onboarding experiences within your platform.

Account types

Embedded integration uses two distinct account types to manage merchant payment processing:

  • Primary Business Account: This is the merchant's main PayPal business account.
  • Partner Delegated Merchant Account: This is a sub-account created and managed by the partner on behalf of the merchant.

A merchant can link their Primary Business Account to multiple Partner Delegated Merchant Accounts. When a merchant completes onboarding through your platform, PayPal creates a new Partner Delegated Merchant Account linked to their Primary Business Account.

Set up your accounts and environment

Follow these steps to configure your partner account for embedded merchant onboarding:

1

Onboard your platform

Fill out this form to tell us about your platform and business, including what services and products your platform provides. We use this information to determine the most suitable integration for you. A PayPal representative will evaluate your business needs and contact you about your approval.

2

Configure your sandbox and live accounts

Log in to your sandbox API caller account to create a Platform REST app and get your API credentials. Then, set up your live account. For instructions, see Configure your sandbox account, live account, and API credentials.

3

Provide logo assets

Prepare your logo assets and share the logo URLs with your PayPal account manager for the embedded partner experience. When preparing your logo assets, review the following specifications:

Logo placement

Your logo lockup should work seamlessly for both desktop and mobile web. The full horizontal version will display in the navigation drawer, while the monogram version appears in the account switcher sheet. The monogram displays in the iconographic drawer strip when the navigation drawer collapses.

Logo types

  • Horizontal logo (fits within an 800 x 160 px container)
  • Square monogram (240 x 240 px)

File format

  • Preferred: .svg format for scalability
  • Alternative: Transparent .png fitting within an 800 x 160 px container

Display specifications

Partner logos render inside a 200 x 40 px container and scale to a maximum width of 200 px or a maximum height of 40 px. Do not stretch or distort the logo to fit the container.
