Filter RecommendationAnchorIcon

Filters are a set of Risk rules that detect fraud, and FPL provides several filters that can be used to build conditional filters. When you log in for the first time, you get a pre-assigned set of filters customized for your business needs under the Filters tab. You must review and activate (Toggle it to ON) those recommended filters to kick-start your fraud protection journey. As per your business requirements, you can also create a filter. You can also view a simulation summary to assess the impact of changing (adding, deleting, or modifying) a filter.

Risk DecisionsAnchorIcon

When you create a new transaction, the information is sent to PayPal’s internal fraud management service. Fraud Protection Lite will automatically analyze transaction information using adaptive rules and fraud filters to determine risk. Based on the risk decision, the Braintree gateway will accept or reject each request. Fraud Protection Risk Decision Braintree Response

Fraud Protection Risk DecisionBraintree Response
ApproveAlways sent to processor
RejectAlways gateway rejected
Not EvaluatedSent to the processor by default
The Transaction Risk Filter is turned on by default. This filter is powered by a machine learning model that scores transaction risk based on historical fraud trends. Transactions with risk scores above the threshold set in this filter will be rejected. A threshold of 10 represents the riskiest transaction, and 0 represents the least risky. A transaction will receive a Not Evaluated risk decision when:
  • The time taken to deliver a risk decision exceeds our internal threshold, and the transaction times out
  • An error occurs during the evaluation process
